Character Name: Zaneloth "Zane" Amakiir
Character & Description: Born of a drow father and a human mother in the Northern Trade District of Rook, Zane's socioeconomic background accounts for a great deal of his life events. From his father, Zane inherited innate drow magic, and from his mother, a somewhat vague but broad streak of ambition. Although mischievous, Zane was a precocious child, and both his parents hoped that when he came of age, he would enroll in the university and be well on his way to at very least a comfortable life. Zane secretly hoped to become a wizard. Childhood stories of wizards that could control the elements and summon demons to do their bidding led to intense disappointment when he discovered that the university's professors were not wizards of unfathomable power who took on secret apprentices, but instead boring intellectuals, most of whose research involved delegating and remaining indoors. While his natural intellect granted him acceptance, Zane's impulsiveness and proclivity for choosing short-term rewards over long-term ones taught him the rules of the street rather than the rules of academia. Ultimately, Zane was suspended until he could prove that he had the discipline, and not just the mental acuity to be any kind of professional.
Currently, Zane does odd jobs, usually in the "victimless crime" (or at least, nobody is physically harmed) sort of category. He doesn't like to hurt people unless he has to, preferring to simply bypass guards/dogs and the like rather than confronting them.
What do you look like, how do you dress, etc.: When on a job (or just in a seedier tavern), Zane wears a lamellar cuirass as well as a small backpack in which he carries whatever it is he thinks might be needed for the job (e.g. rope, grappling hook, etc.). He generally has at least a dagger hidden on his person, but more typically uses a light crossbow or rapier when push comes to shove.
Availability:
Miscellaneous days of the week, it depends on a lot of factors. Hopefully will be able to contribute a lot.
Playstyle:
I'd say I'm pretty well-balanced between combat and roleplaying. For Zane in particular, I envision him as being the party scout. As I said in another thread, I plan on leveling him to an Arcane Trickster eventually, at which point I see versatility as being his major draw.
Edits in bold.
