Session Summary:
The group found a posting at the plow to inspect some ruins. Duade said he was suspicious the man was only advertising his tavern until he saw the posting was a legitimate job. The party decided to investigate this bar. Initially, the door was locked and they almost called it quits, but knocking on the door had the man at the door answer. They were let in on the premise that they were there for the job. A drow man named Jyvvin inside came out of a hidden passage behind a stone wall in the back, asking for help retrieving his father's fortune from his "murder house". The father had created a dungeon of destructive traps and managed to coax some undead inside. Jyvvin also went on and on about how his father pored over tomes about constructs and tinkered with machines. Assured that this house was constructed to guard the father's riches as part of some sick game, the party traveled to the site to the south east of Rook.
On the way to the site, the party was ambushed by a couple Scythe Trees, which the party dispatched of quite easily.
When they arrived at the site, the party saw an iron slab for a door inside the first chamber, move by a couple wheels along the adjacent walls. This precipitated much of the happenings in the dungeon: several mechanical obstacles that needed to be moved or opened. The party fought a small gang of bloody bones and nearly lost Wyllys. Fortunately Ganges was incredibly effective at preventing his comrades from getting hit. They later dealt with a gelatinous cube while trying to push a fake wall down a hallway with the cube taking up the hallway. The next event was a hall lined with scythe traps, though some detect magic and AC boosting made quick work in locating and later disarming the traps.
The last ordeal was a room filled with mirrors, each reflecting something that either was or was not there. The party spent a while wondering about what to do when Ganges what the mirrors probably did. When a mirror was broken, whatever it reflected that wasn't the floor or walls would be inverted in reality. For example, one of the mirrors reflected a pool of water that was actually there and, when broken, the puddle disappeared. Another mirror reflected a bench that wasn't there and the bench appeared when the mirror was broken. The solution was to break the mirror which reflected the door to go forward and the party figured it out.
The final room was a simple room with a treasure chest and a couple lights. The party inspected the contents of the chest, a large amount of gold, and moved it out of the ruins. The gold was returned to the drow and half-orc and they split the contents of the chest amongst themselves, a job well done.
