Summary:
A strange goblin, dressed in a suit, with a silk top hat strolled into the Spigot, and called out for adventurers. He spoke elegantly for a goblin, and requested help obtaining some religious statues from a goblin cult. He informed the party that these statues were in fact a few of the earliest representations of goblin deities, and they would be put to better use, if he could only get permission from the powers that be in Rook, to build a small shrine to help his people move past the old ways, and into a new dawn for the goblin people. He named the four gods, calling them Boodawek, the fire god, Niibi, the water goddess, Akiigomat, the earth god, and Nichiwesh, the sky god. A mere few of a larger goblin pantheon, these gods represented the basic building blocks of existence, and would be an excellent starting point for developing a center for goblin worship.
While the party had their suspicions, as anybody does when dealing with goblinoids, they agreed to clear out the cultist's shrines, so that the statues could be put to a more positive use, and help strengthen the image of his people in the eyes of Rook's citizenry.
The party arrived at the 'temple' and discovered it absolutely teeming with goblins. The first skirmish saw the goblins defeated, with a few wounds distributed throughout the party. Thankfully, they had an abundance of healing magic, and they were back on their feat soon. As they crept forward, they soon discovered a fountain, with the representation of a half-octopus, half goblin statue rising from the turbulent water. The priest of Niibi, and a few of her worshipers pressed an immediate attack and a prayer from the Goblin priest soon filled the cavern with mist. The worshipers, and their dogs soon emerged from the fog, and lobbed alchemist fire at the group, as another party member crept forward in the cavern to discover another shrine, in the form of a large stone goblin face, in an alcove filled with pale mushrooms. This interrupted a warpriest of Akiigomat, in the process of preparing a few worshippers for battle. Before they had been fully buffed, the warpiest and his lackies joined the fray. As the battle raged on, and the tide turned in favor of the adventurers, a large bat carrying a member of Nichiwesh's clergy in a saddle, and a priest of Boodawek in a harness below flew overhead. They made a quick attack, on their way to fleeing from their imminent doom. The party nearly managed to take out the bat, but both the rider, and the crazed fire priest turned their attentions to healing it as it soared out of the cave.
With their clergy defeated, the rest of the goblin cultists seemingly faded away, hiding in various nooks and crannies as the adventurers moved past them to examine a statue of a horned goblin towering over a brazier filled with coals, wood, and various charred bones. Obviously Boodawek, the goblin's fire god. Further into the cave they found an altar to Nichiwesh, the sky god depicted as a horrifying mixture of goblin, and bat. They continued on to find a fork in the tunnel, and chose the path to the left which brought them past a poorly concealed tripwire, to a wooden wall with a single door. The rogue declared it trap free, which turned out to be a mistake as the door was opened and a series of noises sounded off as rocks tumbled down from the ceiling sealing everyone into the chamber save for the sorceror, who narrow escaped being crushed by said rocks. The party found the room beyond the wall to be both small, and completely empty. The only thing present in the room was a crude cave painting of a goblin, which seemed to have been painted by an unskilled artist, perhaps even a child.
As the rest of the party dug their way out of the sealed chamber, the sorceror began clearing the other side only to hear the sound of metal dragging against stone. It seemed to be getting closer, and it sounded remarkably like the tip of a sword being dragged. The sorceror readied himself, knowing that he would likely soon face whomever it was who was approaching blatantly. A large goblin rounded the corner, and lifted his two-handed blade on high and charged right into the sorceror's color spray, falling to the ground unconscious. The sorceror hoisted the greatsword above his head, and dispatched the unconscious goblin chieftain with a few sloppy blows from the blade he was clearly unaccustomed to. With the chief, and husband dead, the four goblin women who crept silently forward had a sudden change in plans, and fled the cave.
They pressed on to the final chamber of the cave, and found a number of sleeping rolls, an aged, nearly destroyed carpet, and four chained human slaves. The brutal goblin chief had tortured the four captives heavily, using it to entertain himself and impress his equally sadistic wives. Each captive had had their eyes scooped out, and tongues removed, and several were missing fingers which seemed to be a vain attempt at nourishment via self-cannibalism.
The adventurers ran back to Rook to collect their rewards. The end.
