Lorek, contacted via his elven proxy, was informed by Hlem Colti that his services as a competent adventurer were once again desired. Collating a group of similarly useful colleagues, Lorek and friends visited Hrolkshar to see what the job entailed. As it turns out the lack of trade thanks to Absolshar's demise had ensured that there was now a herb shortage in Hrolkshar. As some of the rarer plants were almost nonexistent in a desert environ, and such herbs were used for many of the services that Hrolkshar offered, getting more was of course desirable. Hlem had fished around via his contacts and found a dense jungle reason far south and halfway around the world, which likely had such plants. With directions and travel aid, the group managed to indeed visit this jungle and began to look around. It wasn't very long before they were accosted by a remarkably testy humongous goat made of brambles and trees. This was neatly dispatched, though several members wondered as to why it had attacked them, since such a being was usually a guardian of a forest or similar place like the jungle, and they had done no wrong. Eventually they found some locals who, with the aid of Naya and some magic, were able to converse with them. It seemed like the bramble goat was a protector and helped stave off the stone giant populations on the tops of the jungle peaks, who often came down to raid and hunt for food which included the local people.
This caused a bit of unease for everyone, since the idea they'd killed the local population's prime protector wasn't a comfortable thought. Deciding to have a look around, Naya flew up to see if she could see any of the giants. Lorek, meanwhile, decided to actually get on with the job and pick some of the plants, drying them out expertly as the rest of the group sat around and did precisely nothing to help either Lorek or Naya. Naya managed to locate a stone giant who simply sat and watched her and, after she tried communicating, she realised it was not only generally friendly, but very deaf. As it left she returned to the group, dismayed that only Lorek had even bothered to do anything. After Naya related her news to the group, Lorek was more than happy to tag along since as far as he was concerned he had already fulfilled the main obligation of the job (and in fact was the only one to do so).
As such everyone decided to go chat with the stone giants. As it turns out they were indeed generally evil, but didn't specifically hunt people - they generally did so as a means to increase their hunting success, and saw no reason as to why that would be bad since the humans captured them and ritually sacrified them to a shared goddess. This generally made Naya feel at a loss, since both sides were pretty much 'not nice people', but the giants were actually approachable and weren't randomly attacking them. Calling the whole social dynamic a loss, Naya largely gave up and everyone returned to Hrolkshar with Lorek's herbs in order to get paid. With such long journeys not being the most tenable of solutions, Hlem began planning how to make the journey either quicker, or to relocate the plants closer...
