Hearing that strange rumblings were causing problems to local loggers, a group assembled to go and check it out. Strange creatures had been attacking from underground in logging areas, something that seemed incredibly odd as usually they wouldn't do so. It was surmised that something below was possibly causing them to move upwards. After traveling towards the location, the group were ambushed by an ankheg which was swiftly beaten to death moments before it could drag Kitiara away in to the depths to much for lunch. Deciding to move on a bit more, the group eventually set up camp with a merry little fire. However this fire drew complications and problems - a pair of thoqquas were lured up by the relative heat, attacking the party partially territorially and partially confused. Regardless, the challenge wasn't insurmountable and with some deft strikes and moves the pair of warm snakelike beings were put to death. After a pleasant night of rest, the group forged onwards to the wooded area in question and did indeed see a sinkhole of some kind which would give them access to where they could get a closer look at any problems.
Dekhaan, however, made the unfortunate choice of walking on the wrong patch of ground, revealing an ankheg specialized to lure prey in to a sinkhole of unstable ground and then grap and eat them, pulling them underground as it did so. This is exactly what happened to the poor adventurer. The rest of the group followed as best they could, controlled sliding down the sinkhole and burrowed tunnels the creature left behind in it's haste to escape and they finally put it down - but now before Dekhaan had been munched a bit too much to be alive. Propping his corpse up on a rock, the group continued down in to what they could see was some kind of thoqqua nest - their complete lack of sealth unsurprisingly drawing forth several said thoqqua to fight. Once again they were put to death and the group finished spelunking down to the bottom, only to hear grating voices and gutteral syllables. Not understanding the language very well, they edged forwards to see a pair of earthen figures having a raised conversation, clearly disturbing the local area as all the dead thoqqua attested to. This conversation was swiftly ended as they noticed the intruders and attacked. It was a close and hard fought battle but eventually both were laid to rest, the only casualty being Kitiara who had attempted to flee only to note that they could move through rock. Regardless, the party pooled together some funds to bring her back to life as they felt she was worth the cash.
