Ben, whilst working, noticed that the vial of liquid from the plagued swamp had ruptured. Not feeling sick, but still concerned, he went to visit Naya to ask for advice. Naya, similarly, felt the old scar on hr neck start acting up with almost feverish warmth as Ben drew near. Once he knocked and explained what had happened, he was permitted entry to discuss the problem. Norrel was unnerved to see a miasma of 'wrongness' emitting from him. Though not evil, it certainly didn't seem beneficial. Norrel's unease grew as the same aura began emitting from Naya's scar. After much discussion, Naya decided to send Norrel to Lorek's place to ask for his assistance. Primrose, deciding to grab a plague suit before going over from Lorek's, ran in to Rainen outside her property so he decided to tag along as everyone turned up at Naya's. Much debate ensued as Lorek and friends attempted to work out what the auras were as they began to shape into humanoid forms. Concerned, Lorek suggested possibly binding one to remove it from Naya as Ben left to talk to House Malfuron, the nobles he knew dealt with this stuff regularly.
On the way however Ben decided to try and strongly listen to the droning the aura was emitting, managing to finally hear it's voice as disease ran rampant through his system. Quickly stopping to cure himself of most of the disease, Ben returned to the others to inform them of what he'd been told - they were requested to travel to the realm of Abaddon and meet with the entities' Lord to aid with preventing a plot for Apollyon spreading to each of the planes and converting them to an extension of Abaddon. When the others saw Ben they were taken aback by the entity that was forming almost directly from out of his head, and they professed the problems that would cause. As such Ben went to House Malfuron anyway to have it removed, whilst Lorek bound the aura from Naya and received the same information as Ben. Deciding that on the balance of it the threat was greater than the risk of a trap, the group walked through the realm of shadow to get to their destination - once there they were indeed led to a Thanadaemon called Dekkahar who, whilst very, very evil, was quite reasonable and open about using the group to further both his own and their ends. As it was of mutual benefit, the group agreed to help with the promise of relevant awards to their life path.
With information about the lieutenants, the group headed to the first fortress after being rowed across the river Styx by Dekkahar himself - looking through the mist they saw the place swarming with daemons, minions and rot grubs. Preparing, the group ran in spells blazing and started taking massive chunks out of the enemy forces. One Leukodaemon, the deadeye shot that he was, managed to slam 3 arrows in to Primrose at a respectable range, slicing away most of her health in a blaze of critical hits. Retreating, she proceeding to fend off further attacks but was eventually knocked outconscious by the tenacious foes. The rest of the group effectively wrecked all kinds of daemonic face. Surprising people near the end, a flying Worm that Walks made of rot grubs flew out to sling his own spells. Rainen, spotting what looked like a swarm, sent a massive 'fire'ball that slammed in to him, surprising him and scaring him right the hell away, a plane shift removing him from the fight.
After clearing the rest of the enemies, the group threw their magic and force at the plague bell upon the top of the tower, eventually breaking it and dissipating it's magical energies. Going in to the tower itself allowed Lorek to identify the ropers built in to the walls - a quick retreat and massed fireballs put them in their place. After gaining entry to the lower sanctum they found an appreciable amount of magical reagents and experimental research, as well as a madman's conspiracy diagram plastered all over the walls venerating Apollyon, though Naya found traces of hidden Vecna imagery that was there almost unconsciously. Collecting everything of interest and value, the group returned to Dekkahar for their rewards and returned home, awaiting the information on the next fortresses. It was up to them to locate the remaining tower, statue and cauldron to prevent the spread of plague throughout all the realms, and they were off to a good start.
