Total Session XP: 24000 Loot: 4500gp Session Date: 04/28/2015 GM Geckilian - Miere Klerrin - Template Research docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Me1PKVj_RqTprsD2JsIflHu1VSTmE8trH2KdRJimes8/edit#gid=1351760132Player Loot:Naya Sharpe: 4500gp, token to enter 'The Library' and Commune equivalent. Lorek Ra'dari: 4500gp, token to enter 'The Library' and Commune equivalent. Ben Weese: 4500gp, token to enter 'The Library' and Commune equivalent. Baldur Oberon: 4500gp, token to enter 'The Library' and Commune equivalent. Primrose: 4500gp, token to enter 'The Library' and Commune equivalent. Note - exp and gold as per a normal session and discussion on acquirement is still ongoing.Through various means of research, talking to various people and generally wandering around in the right places, the various individuals looking for ways to begin to ascend or achieve a longer lifespan learned about the alleged Library of Alexos, or maybe Alexis. Banding together, the group shared their information and, via Baldur, transported near to the area via a convenient tree. Looking around, the group soon found a hallowed area complete with dimensional lock, a lock Lorek couldn't dispel. Leaving Samael outside the hallowed area, and with Drakmir behind guarding drow initiates, the group made their way down the stairs. Primrose almost immediately angered the Deathless guardian as clearly only the deceitful had a reason to hide. After fleeing, removing her ring and creeping back, Primrose joined the others as they made their way past the guardian and in to the library. After Ben brazenly walked through several doors, the group found a static plane shift grate which Lorek quickly stepped in to after discerning its purpose. With everyone following, they all found themselves in a wonderful arcane library that, after some wandering and following their gut instincts, led them to a place and area well suited to what they wished to study. The only exception was Ben, who took longer than most but still reached his goal. It seemed like a fantastic place to research.... Please post your 6 commune-esque questions in this thread. The answers do not have to be yes or no - open questions are naturally allowed. Miere will piggyback Primrose's questions.

1) The Tragic Man presumably became a Worm That Walks. 2) Main catalyst for becoming a WTW unknown. 3) Heavy amounts of Necromancy and Transmutation involved in the rituals to become one. 4) Method of Death may affect Aesthetics 5) More texts involving the Sorcerer (The Tragic Man?) will reveal more information. 6) The caster must sacrifice their life in order to transform 7) Iricko would be a good person to ask for more knowledge
Continuing from there- 8) Where can Iricko be found? 9) Where can Alexos be found? 10) Where can more books involving The Tragic Man be found? 11) What materials are required to perform the ritual(s) and for the sacrifice to become a Worm That Walks? 12) What exactly, aside from materials and a sacrifice, is required for the ritual to take place? 13) Who transformed Kreuvathal?
Oh, and I'll teleport spam over to Oriar(and back) and ask if they'd like a go at reforming some Drow before I throw them to the wolves(Or Crocodile).

Previous Answers for half-dragon template:
1) Next milestone is unknown. 2-4) Cloud city might be old enough to know something about dragons. 5) It's a ritual. 6) Dragons can take humanoid forms, magic users can take temporal/weak versions of draconic forms. 7) There is no way to detect dragons, magic or otherwise. Something about not wanting to be detected, so that makes them magic-proof.
Conclusion: Norran had no flippin' idea about half-dragons, nor did he know of any experts/books that focused on the matter. He was certain it's a ritual, he just didn't know any of the steps needed to be taken or any areas where one could gain information about it.
1) What are the methods of becoming a half-dragon?
2) What are the general timelines of each method (How long does each known method take)?
3) Is there any variance between the results of each method, and if so, what are they?
4) What are the components required to complete each method?
5) Are there any myths/stories of individuals becoming more dragon-like in nature, and if so, please include those as possible methods for the first 4 questions.
6) Where are any locations (such as dens, lairs, labs, or libraries that were either used or frequented by individuals that researched or successfully became half-dragons?
I do have a question about the library, however. Does a character lacking means of teleportation need to hitch a ride with another PC to return to Rook/this place, or is that what "The Library" token is about?

He is likely to be found to the far north of the world, secluded amidst snow and ruins.9) Where can Alexos be found? Passages within the library imply he's never really left.10) Where can more books involving The Tragic Man be found? Aside from the ones you're reading, the archivums in the north will have more.11) What materials are required to perform the ritual(s) and for the sacrifice to become a Worm That Walks? Magically treated entities required to eat the corpse at the time of, or as cause of, death.12) What exactly, aside from materials and a sacrifice, is required for the ritual to take place? An area thematically suitable for the ritual and a burning desire to return.13) Who transformed Kreuvathal? It is presumed his god, Vecna.Oh, and I'll teleport spam over to Oriar(and back) and ask if they'd like a go at reforming some Drow before I throw them to the wolves(Or Crocodile). They would be happy to accept them.

He was certain it's a ritual, he just didn't know any of the steps needed to be taken or any areas where one could gain information about it. 1) What are the methods of becoming a half-dragon? Various methods include risky surgery, awakening a draconic heritage, being born as one, ingesting certain parts of a dragon and having a dragon itself transform you, all of which are heavily ritualised. 2) What are the general timelines of each method (How long does each known method take)? That entirely depends on how well the recipent adapts, but usually no more than a few months to acclimatise or die.3) Is there any variance between the results of each method, and if so, what are they? Yes, again depending on the individual. The results can be quite varied, readily apparent or quite subtle - it would depend largely on how the recipient goes about the process.4) What are the components required to complete each method? Unfortunately this is effectively multiple questions - choose one.5) Are there any myths/stories of individuals becoming more dragon-like in nature, and if so, please include those as possible methods for the first 4 questions. There are tales of Madred Jhorl, a man of such cutting edge vivisection he sought to splice whatever he could together to improve it. Tales of his prowess spread so far and wide that a young dragon sought him out to learn his craft, resulting in it being vivisected and incorporated in to Madred himself. There is no word as to how this went afterwards.6) Where are any locations (such as dens, lairs, labs, or libraries that were either used or frequented by individuals that researched or successfully became half-dragons? The archivums in the north likely hold good research, but the only knowledge of where dragons may be is hundreds if not thousands of years old - it is unlikely that such information would be relevant or correct in the current time.I do have a question about the library, however. Does a character lacking means of teleportation need to hitch a ride with another PC to return to Rook/this place, or is that what "The Library" token is about? The token does indeed transport you there, much like Norran's token.

It was worth a shot. I'll go with the draconic heritage-awakening one, if only because one is by birth and the other two sound an awful lot like I'd need to find a dragon, which are nigh undetectable. At least there's a small fraction of a chance the heritage won't need a dragon.
And since the transportation thing is allowed, after Ben collects his relevant information, he'll take the time to transcribe a book on that stuff Plodus/Ploatus/Plo'dis wanted.

For the draconic heritage method you would need either a powerful draconically-aligned spellcaster to help awaken you via a ritual requiring reagents formed from the body of a dragon, or perform such a ritual yourself via those same reagents and some creative alchemy.
Ploatus will greatly appreciate the copied book.

Known: 1. Nearly all of the mortals that have ascended had outsider blood to begin with. 2. Those that haven't, did so at great personal cost and sacrifice 3. The only recorded case in Rook history involved a man (hereafter referred to as The Healer) who spent 7 days and nights healing all the sick in Rook, before disappearing. Possibly a paladin? 4. Ascending requires complete and utter certainty in one's purpose. 5. The Golden Man, whatever he is, seems to be interested in guiding me along with path. Motivation and purpose unknown.
Questions: 1. By what methods can a mortal without outsider blood ascend? 2. Where can I find details on the ascension process? 3. What is the Golden Man? 4. Is The Healer still alive? 5. Where can I find more information about The Healer? 6. Where can I find more information about other mortals who have ascended?

1. Are there tales of any druids that have achieved immortality? Yes, though most instead prefer to become closer to nature.2. How did they do it? They became a form of lich, as being closer to nature doesn't actually grant immortality.3. What is the first step to achieving immortality in the above manner? Researching and constructing a phylactery.4. Who would know more about the process for achieving the desired effect in questions 1-3? Lorek is making progress on this, but the trapped Lich in Norran's Grisgol would also be a good choice.5. Where can I find more information on the above subject? The Grisgol would be an excellent choice, or the archivums in the north or indeed the area of The Library that Lorek is using.6. Would my ally's in the library's finds help me in this matter? Yes, Lorek would be the best choice of your allies thus far.

Questions: 1. By what methods can a mortal without outsider blood ascend? Being recognised by a celestial or divine of sufficient power for your deeds of good and purity of purpose.2. Where can I find details on the ascension process? The archivums in the north are likely to hold some details, or ask The Healer.3. What is the Golden Man? He is the transcended form of The Healer.4. Is The Healer still alive? In a sense yes, he is more of an inbetween life and death.5. Where can I find more information about The Healer? You could ask him the next time he turns up, or consult the archivums in the north, or ask around various temples once you have his actual name.6. Where can I find more information about other mortals who have ascended? Gaining an audience with some of the more powerful clergy in Cloud City could lead to such conversations.

New Questions: 8)What needs to be done to an object of importance to turn it into a completed phylactery? Aside from finishing the construction and reinforcement using a variety of magical reagents, it must be 'consecrated' with negative energy.9)What method can be used to bind ones soul to a completed phylactery to finish the transformation? A long ritual involving the blood letting and sacrifice (unless you're careful) of a family member would be required as powerful necromancy is used to pull out your soul and leash it to the phylactery.10)Are there any other materials that would be necessary for the process? That largely depends on the person attempting it and their state of mind. It could be as little as three small sticks and 4 cc of mouse blood or even with a fresh egg and two small sticks, but to most the event would require much greater preparation and grandiosity. 11)Are there any other special conditions that need to be fulfilled for the process? The would-be lich would need to be fully willing to divest him/herself from mortality, close associates and anything else not directly linked to the driving force that causes them to want immortality.12)What are the largest risks in undertaking such a transformation? Binding the soul to the phylactery and not managing to maintain or manifest a body to ambulate, resulting in a trapped soul within a pretty trinket, completely shut off from the outside world.13)What other leads are worth pursuing? In terms of information, possibly the archivums in the north but a Grisgol is a pretty convincing alternative to that. Similarly, tracking down and conversing with his brother.
