Hey guys, been reading up on the rules since I'm thinking about joining. My question is about the False Focus feat. It is similar to the blood money spell, removing expensive material components, limited to less than or equal to 100gp. I like this feat because it makes some cool spells useable (arcane lock, magic mouth, create treasure map [as a DM story hook], ablative sphere, continual flame). I don't know which of the many valid reasons you banned blood money for, whether just the game-breaking possibilities that it introduces, simply the ability to reduce cost, or other related reasons, so I am unsure where this feat falls. I would like to point out that if this feat is allowed, I highly recommend as a fellow DM to ban its use with Symbol of Mirroring, since it turns a mediocre and worthless spell into a constant lesser version of Mirror Image for the entire party given enough downtime.

I think the text in Symbol of Death, requiring all symbols to be "placed in plain sight and in a prominent location." prevents you from just churning out balls/coins/papers and just hauling them around.

My reading of prominent location is pretty much that it has to be on a floor, wall, or ceiling to function.
False focus seems fine with that in mind, but if there are problems in game it will be adjusted.

Cool. Conveniently it's you replying to all my questions. How would you rule interaction between False Focus and the Oread alternate racial trait Oread Gem Magic? Gem Magic lets you use an expensive material component to provide a very minor boost to a spell, and False Focus lets you ignore 100gp worth of expensive matieral components. Gem Magic mostly sucks, but I love the flavor: having FF and Gem Magic on an Oread gemcutter that creates the gems he uses magic with sounds awesome. Looks like the only options <= 100 gp just provide an extra point of damage and things of a similar magnitude
