Once again finding themselves gathered together at the Plow, the adventurers were approached by a pair of merchants. Their request was a rather odd one as they asked the party to embark on a diplomatic mission to a colony of sentient ants. Questions asked and details laid out, the party accepted and swiftly departed.
Getting to the caves was rather trivial, getting inside and to the entrance to the ant’s tunnel was rather trivial as well, but once they came face to face with the cave in blocking the entrance to the ant’s portion of the tunnel it took some discussion to get inside. Once in, the group (mostly Aluin) conversed with the ant Queen. They began their conversation speaking of the nature of the ants. It was discovered the ants see themselves as both individuals, and as a collective. The concept of true independence was unusual to them, but they quickly learned the various facets of human society. Of other things to note, the party learned that the ants adhere to a form of growth worship, where to grow is to live, learn, and be complete. Words were taught, and literacy improved, but the nature of the ants roll in the world was partially questioned. They reached an understanding of course, breaching the rather extensive literacy gap, and then two new baby worker ants were born. Upon leaving the cave, the Queen ant sent her drone to accompany the adventurers, who promptly got the drone drunk. Strangely enough, he turned a slight shade of red, which was accompanied by a very standard unsteadiness and slurred speech.
In a twist of fate, a warning was received that bandits were on their way to attack. Not prepared for a full frontal attack on their encampment, the merchant asked the adventurers to go to battle for them once again, with the promise of gold on their success. The battle was swift, a collection of bandits a menial stopper in the day of the common adventurer. The battle won, the adventurers proceeded back to the camp, collected their pay, then gave the ants alcohol which was promptly delivered to the queen. The drone returned to the camp about 10 minutes later, a rather confused expression on his face, but by then the party had already returned to Rook.
