Finding themselves in the Golden Goose, the adventurers learn of a disturbing rumor concerning the disappearance of children in a costal town to the west of Rook. After a short discussion, Peek and Puck (Halfling Adventurers Extraordinaire) offer to pay the group of adventurers to look into the matter. After a series of strange coincidences the party manages to catch a ride with a severely inebriated dwarf. The Adventurers (although distrustful) climb aboard and find themselves at the town within a day and a half.
Splitting up the group they manage to discover that most of the townspeople blame a "Creepy old wizard" that had recently moved to the area shortly before the disappearances. With the sun sinking below the horizon the group found themselves standing before the broken gates of a mansion that had seen better days. Pounding on the door garnered no reply. Yelling was met with only silence. Seeing no alternative the group pushed open the doors, entering the foreboding mansion. Once inside the group found things that both drove fear into their hearts and madness into their minds. Strange creatures attacked them and strange whispers promising madness assaulted them around every corner. They found the mansion infested by strange little creatures, whose bodies were twisted and warped. The group quickly defeated these threats. The other horrors they faced were not so easily vanquished though.
In a side room they were assaulted by a large slug-like creature, which attempted to digest Kain by spewing it's digestive juices on him. The party assaulted it from all angles as Kain withdrew from the room. After their furious assault, the creature fell to the ground, only to explode in a blast of digestive juices and gore.
At the doors to the ballroom, they were taunted by the voice of the "Wizard". Unable to open the doors they searched for another way to enter, with Esre driven to the point of distraction trying to find information on "The Great Old Ones". After facing more twisted creatures they eventually found a way to enter the ballroom. The mad gnome they found within put up a struggle, spewing forth spiders, gobs of sticky spit, and a tremendous bomb. In the end the adventurers were able to subdue the villain, quickly tying him up.
Searching through the rest of the mansion, they discovered lines of metal tanks with a strange fluid inside, and a wall with the carving of a door in it. Attempting to find a way to open the door, Esre was encouraged to speak words in the Aklo language at it. The response was an ominous and overpowering voice, speaking in an unknown language, that rendered many of the group unconscious for several seconds. Finding no way of opening the suspected door, the group returned to town, with the unconscious gnome in tow.
Meeting with the mayor, the group questioned the gnome. To the horror of the mayor, it was revealed that the stolen children were actually the creatures that the party had slaughtered in the mansion. Unable to face these truths, the mayor sent the adventurers from his sight. As the sun rose the gnome was taken to be "hung in the sea", where he was fitted with a noose (the other end connected to a large stone) and pitched into shark infested waters.
Meeting up with the dwarf who had brought them to the town, the group was able to catch a ride back to Rook. After telling their tale to Peek and Puck (Halfling Adventurers Extraordinaire) they were offered the payment they were promised. Unwilling to accept the reward, Esre walked off to mull over the thoughts in her mind. After a quick conversation with Caisys, and a bit of chat with the patrons of the Golden Goose, they discovered there was another who they might go to for information. Making their way to the temple of Torag, they met with Lorekeeper Magmamantle. Having no time to discuss things, he promised them a meeting to discuss matters at a later date (asking to look through Caisys' findings in the meantime)
