Having seen the goblins outside Rook beginning to pack up, Bailoch, Azziel and Thaedius inquired as to what was going on. Mhorgahl the half-orc trader welcomed them and stated that he was setting up to properly house the small goblin population and pay them a fair wage. When asked why he'd bother the half-orc shrugged and replied that everyone deserved a second chance - his had been at Rook. Being informed that Jane was likely out and about waiting for them, the trio set out after Azziel had stocked up on health potions. Sure enough not more than a quarter days travel from Rook they bumped in to the red haired singer and the quartet continued on. Azziel, scouting ahead, managed to spot a goblin scout at much the same time as she was spotted. A brief scuffle ensued which brought the goblin, as well as his faithful goblin hound mount, down low. After potions were used to get Jane back to the world of the conscious, the questions started. Answering fairly usefully saw the goblin eventually drowned in a pond under Bailoch's heel once he ran out of useful answers.
Enthused at this victory, the group headed onwards. Jane spied a goblin hiding behind a rock so asked Thaedius for several phrases in goblin that meant a peaceful entreaty. However whilst receiving these nuggets of knowledge from Thaedius, she was shot. Almost instantly she was laid low and the party rushed to her defence. Azziel, in a monumental feat of self sacrifice, rushed across to Jane and healed her with a potion only to drop unconscious and start bleeding out herself. The remaining goblin carefully crept his way round to the two unconscious ladies, confident the dwaf and half-orc would not see him, a dagger held ready in his hand. Thaedius, noticing, dispatched the second of two goblin dogs roused by the fight and rushed back over to prevent the goblin from neatly ending a life of an adventuring comrade as Bailoch dispatched the remaining second goblin.
A quick rough and tumble saw an end to the goblin's trickery. Now however Azziel was out of potions as was Jane, so the group decided to quickly head back to Rook. En route they were accosted by a trio of bandits. Azziel's quick thinking and convincing lies caused the bandits to pause their demands for gold, since they didn't have a valid 'Bandit Permit' from 'The Bandit of the Woods'. They were neatly directed towards the tower and told to ignore the goblin recruits and instead speak to the boss in charge to get their tickets. Thanking the party for their help, the trio proceeded to go on their way to die.
Reaching Rook, the party decided to purchase clerical healing from the temple of Desna. Azziel proceeded to buy another potion and once again the party headed out towards the tower once again. This time as they reached it they found it strangely quiet, the complete absence of goblins noticeable. As azziel took vantage in a tree, Thaedius and Bailoch went to the door. As they got there it was opened by a massive Bugbear who demanded to know where the red haired wench was, the one who had plans to incite his slaves to revolt, which they had due to so few guards remaining. Thaedius confirmed she was with them, at which point Jane began to run.
As the Bugbear screamed in utter rage at the temerity of this woman to ruin his entire goblinoid slave empire he charged forwards, narrowly missing her as the rest of the party neatly missed the opportunity to strike (2 1's and a 3!). Thankful she'd survived, Jane snapped her whip forwards to disarm him and failing. It was a few milliseconds before she realised she was far, far too close to the thing and the axe came down like the angry wrath of at least several irate people, cleaving her utterly in twain! With his nemesis and source of the destruction of his way of life dead in front of him, the Bugbear began to laugh up at the sky, picking up and slamming the huge greataxe in to Jane's mutilated corpse once more before the rest of the party brought him down. In the ensuing silence Bailoch lopped off the thing's head and the party proceeded to search the tower. Though dilapidated it was valued at approximately 1,500gp, was 30 feet tall and possessed three tiers each with a couple of rooms. Bailoch confirmed it was dwarven made and, for the cost of a few thousand gold, easily repairable to be a good defensive tower. The bell outside was even worth around 200gp, and various treasures from banditry were found within the tower itself.
Leaving Jane's corpse, after looting it, the party returned to Rook and celebration as the rest of the goblin slaves had made their way to the city successfully and were helping those already there. Mhorgahl was glad to see the three members return and was glad to not only pay them but organize the selling of their various looted trinkets and baubles. Not only that but he gave advice as to where to check to see who owned the property the tower resided upon.
With an entire goblin tribe now liberated and living in the eastern slums, paid a decent living wage and engaged in practical and productive tanning and carpentry, truly it was a successful day!
