The PC's were sitting around the Drippy? Spiggot, when a pair of gnomish brothers approached, introducing themselves as the Blundergear Brothers, soon to be operators of the realm's finest menagerie. They had a problem however, that their site had been taken over by a group of goblin squatters. They offered the PC's 400 gold a piece to clear the goblin threat from their land.
As our intrepid adventurers approached the parcel of land, they came across a wooden bridge over a very small river. It was the very site the bothers had explained that they had been fired upon by the goblins. They proceeded cautiously, attempting to talk to the goblins. They were all a bit too primitive, and spoke little to no common. A group of mud-caked goblins emerged from the bushes, cautiously, but working towards better positioning. It wasn't long after that negotiations ceased as their boss, an alchemist, lobbed an explosive towards the party. The fight began as Usiel, the only one prepared to act during the initial volley rushed forward to strike one of the goblins. She struck a goblin, and moved towards the primitive alchemist. The battle went quickly, as it seldom does when goblins are involved, and the adventurers stood triumphant. Jack healed up a few of his injured companions, and so began a lengthy debate about what to do with the captives.
After the bickering, the group moved forward to secure their objective, a ruined roadside inn that stood on an all but deserted stretch of road. A small field behind the ruin had been recently hand tilled, and surrounded by torches. The adventurers headed back to investigate, and Jack sensed a planar presence within the mud. After attempting to speak to the entity, a voice said, "Go away", which only drew the adventurers closer. A small figure, which had been previously buried nearly completely in the muck stood from its hiding place. He explained that this was a sacred temple, and the goblins would not move. The player characters began negotiating, when all of a sudden an argument broke out, as it tends to happen when adventurers are involved. Kasidra revealed that the party had in fact beaten the group of 'guardians' near the bridge within inches of their life, and the muddy goblin raised his hand with a single gesture and with it rose a creature composed completely of dripping, muddy earth.
Threats, intimidation, and insults were flung at the strange goblin zealot, and along with them, a bomb thrown by Arcus exploded any further chances at diplomacy. The single goblin and the mudman protector tried to defend their sacred ground, but the bloodthirsty murderhobos brought him down in the end, with several of the party watching in horror as the battle raged. Viktor dragged the goblin to safety, as the mudman continued to fight on. In an act of desperation it engulfed Kasidra, and attempted to smother the life out of her. She soon managed to wiggle free of the beasts gooey interior, and Jack pushed the creature out of the patch of mud, completely disorientating it. A quick charge brought it down, and the adventurers were once again free to argue about ethics amongst themselves as they returned to Rook to collect their blood money.
